The Revised Amharic Bible of 1962 in XML-Format
Please read the copyright statement in the bottom line of this page.

For the purpose of exhaustive textual analysis I rendered the bible text into XML-Format. The Document Type Definition (DTD) of the data, which I definded, can be downloaded here. The purpose of a Document Type Definition is to define the legal building blocks of an XML document. It defines the document structure with a list of legal elements. A DTD can be declared inline in your XML document, or as an external reference. The encoding is Unicode UTF-8. in order to display the ethiopic syllables correctly , use a proper Unicode font, which must be installed onto your computer and activated in your browser. There are several fonts downloadable for free in the web. A good one is the font 'GF Zemen Unicode', which you can download here.

Any comments, propositions, error reportings etc. are welcome. Please contact me by e-mail using the contact link above.

The New Testament:

Analysis Example: Gospel According To Mark with Exhaustive Concordance:

Just to get an idea how powerful XML-based analysis can be, here is an example of the Complete Gospel According To Mark in Amharic with links for every single word to an Exhaustive Concordance of Mark together with the number of occurrences of this word, with every single occurrence backlinked to the gospel text. The generation and HTML rendering for text and concordance was done with the help of two short XSLT Transformations for text and concordance applied to the XML-Data for Mark compliant to the nt-text-net-bible DTD.
